90 DAY TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE
In response to numerous citizen complaints of motor vehicle violations in its neighborhoods, the Simsbury Police Department is announcing a 90-day traffic enforcement initiative which will kick off on October 22, 2007.
The purpose of this traffic enforcement initiative is to reduce the number of traffic accidents and the injuries that result from speeding and other violations as well as to address the citizen complaints related to speeding in the town's neighborhoods. Patrol officers will be targeting locations which have a high incidence of traffic accidents and those areas where the department receives complaints from citizens about speeding violations.
This is an agency-wide effort. Using grant monies to supplement an already established police effort to calm speeding in its community, the department will continue to target aggressive drivers and law violators.
The Simsbury Police Department is responsive to the needs of its community. As such, it will continue its "zero tolerance" policy toward traffic violations and will issue citations to all violators.
The department's mission is to make the Town of Simsbury a safer place for all, and strongly encourages motorists to obey the law and drive safely.
